Biographie du candidat
Né le 25 novembre 1946 à Jada dans l’État d’Adamawa, Atiku Abubakar est philanthrope, homme d’affaires et homme politique. Après ses études, il s’inscrit, en 1967 à l’Institut d’administration de l’Université Ahmadu Bello, grâce à une bourse du gouvernement régional. Il y obtient son diplôme en 1969. Par la suite, il rejoint le département des douanes et occupe le poste de directeur adjoint (commandant adjoint dans tout le pays).
Après 20 ans passés au sein de la douane nigériane, Abubakar prend sa retraite en 1989. Il remporte les élections de 1998 pour le poste de gouverneur de l’État d’Adamawa. En 1999, il devient le vice-président de l’ancien président Obasanjo et ce jusqu’à 2007. Abubakar a tenté à plusieurs reprises d’accéder à la présidence du pays, notamment aux dernières élections en 2019, mais sans succès.
En plus de sa carrière politique, Atiku est également le fondateur et le président de l’American University of Nigeria (AUN).

Candidate’s Biography
Born in 1946 in Jada, Adamawa State, Atiku Abubakar is a philanthropist, businessman and politician. After graduating from school, he enrolled in the Institute of Administration at Ahmadu Bello University in 1967 on a scholarship from the regional government. He graduated in 1969. Thereafter, he joined the Customs Department and held the position of Deputy Director (Deputy Commander throughout the country).
After 20 years in the Nigerian Customs Service, Abubakar retired in 1989. He won the 1998 gubernatorial election in Adamawa State. In 1999, he became the vice president of former President Olusegun Obasanjo and served until 2007. Atiku Abubakar has made several attempts to become president of the country, including the last election in 2019, but without success.
In addition to his political career, Atiku is also the founder and president of the American University of Nigeria (AUN).
