Hamza Al-Mustapha est né en 1960 et a fait ses études à Nguru, dans la province de Yobe. Il s’est inscrit à l’Académie de défense nigériane de Kaduna et est entré dans l’armée nigériane en 1983. Il a reçu une formation d’agent de renseignement militaire. Il a été le chef de la sécurité d’Abacha de 1993 jusqu’à sa mort soudaine en 1998. Suite à cela, Al-Mustapha a rassemblé la hiérarchie militaire afin d’éviter une crise de succession. Abubakar est devenu chef de l’État en 1998 et Al-Mustapha a été démis de ses fonctions, puis arrêté.
Il s’installe à Kano après sa libération avant de rejoindre la politique en 2017 en fondant le Parti vert du Nigeria (GPN). En 2019, il est devenu le candidat à la présidence du Peoples Party of Nigeria (PPN) et en juin 2022, il remporte les élections primaires de l’Action Alliance (AA) pour les élections générales de 2023.

Biography
Hamza Al-Mustapha was born in 1960 and educated in Nguru, Yobe province. He enrolled at the Nigerian Defense Academy in Kaduna and joined the Nigerian Army in 1983. He was trained as a military intelligence officer. He was Abacha’s chief of security from 1993 until his sudden death in 1998. Following this, Al-Mustapha assembled the military hierarchy to avoid a succession crisis. Abubakar became head of state in 1998 and Al-Mustapha was removed from office and arrested.
He moved to Kano after his release before returning to politics in 2017 by founding the Green Party of Nigeria (GPN). In 2019, he became the presidential candidate of the Peoples Party of Nigeria (PPN) and in June 2022, he won the Action Alliance (AA) primary for the 2023 general elections.
