Rabiu Kwankwaso est né à Kano en 1956. Après avoir entrepris de longues études d’ingénieur à Kano Middle School puis en Angleterre à Middlesex University et à Loughborough University, il rejoint l’Agence des ressources en eau et de la construction technique du gouvernement de l’État de Kano en 1975.
Il se lance en politique dans les années 90 auprès du Social Democratic Party (SDP). En 1992, il est élu membre de la Chambre des représentants, affilié à la circonscription fédérale de Madobi. Il rejoint le People’s Democratic Party (PDP) en 1998 et est élu gouverneur de l’État de Kano en 1999, ce qui le propulse sur la scène politique et lui permet d’accéder à différents postes dans ce milieu.

Candidate Biography
Rabiu Kwankwaso was born in Kano in 1956. After studying engineering at Kano Middle School and then in England at Middlesex University and Loughborough University, he joined the Kano State Government’s Water Resources and Technical Construction Agency in 1975.
He entered politics in the 1990s with the Social Democratic Party (SDP). In 1992, he was elected as a member of the House of Representatives, affiliated to Madobi Federal Constituency. He joined the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) in 1998 and was elected governor of Kano State in 1999, which propelled him into the political arena and gave him access to various positions in the state.
